There are so methods being promoted on the net these days to generate web traffic for your website. Some actualy work and some are total garbage.
After running an online business for five years, I’ve tried out just about all of these traffic getting systems. I’ll save you some time and mention a few that you’ll want to avoid and some that will actually bring you some good web traffic.
Tactics That Don’t Work:
Free for all web directories: Don’t waste your time. Everyone in only interested in promoting their own offer. They aren’t there to look at yours. The webmaster usually set up such a website for the sole purpose of sending ads to everyone who submits an ad or website to their directory. The ad comes in the acceptance email. No one probably reads those either.
Email Spamming: Don’t do it! You can get yourself in a lot of trouble. If someone reports you, your ISP or web host can shut your account down. It’s not only illegal, it’s annoying to others. No one is going to buy from people who send them junk mail. Most likely, the spam filters will just stop the message from ever being seen.
Junky Webpage Builders. You can’t create a good website with a push button website builder. It’s just not going to happen. You’re actually going to have to put some thought and time into it. Making money online is a business. Treat it as one.
Buying A Magic Money Making System. Money doesn’t just fall from the sky. It’s not as easy as some people pretend it is. Don’t buy every money making system that hits the market.
Tactics That Work:
PPC (pay per click): While a great method of receiving target traffic, it’s also very expensive. Who can afford to spend $400 to make $300? Not recommended for beginners.
Social Network Posting. Signing up and posting to social networks such as digg or reddit can bring you some traffic. It does take time to post on a regular basis though. You don’t want to look like a spammer and just promote your money pages all the time. You’ll just get kicked off.
If you would like to try a social network, Squiddo or Hubpages work well. These are high traffic websites and you may pick up some extra visitors. Don’t just slap up any junk though. Spend some time and make a good page.
The Best Tactic:
Submitting Articles: This is my favorite traffic generating method. You not only get direct traffic from the article directories, but you also get a lot of highly targeted one-way backlinks.
Pick a topic related to your website and spend some time researching and writing a good quality article. Submit your article to at least the top 10 article directories. Many sites offer a list of the most popular article directories. Just search in Yahoo or Google for these.
Not only should you submit to the biggest and best article directories, but also make sure to submit to niche article directories. This will give you the biggest advantage in the search engines due to the related theme of your site and theirs. Also, more people are likely to click through to your website. Example: if you run a health and fitness website, be sure to submit your article to as many health article directories you can find.
Try to write and submit at lease one or more articles per week. Make it a habit. It’ll pay off in the long run.
If you run a health or fitness related website, please feel free to submit your articles to our PR3 Health article directory. Visit us at http://www.feel-best.info to submit your article. There is no charge to submit your articles.
